“The United Urban Indian Council (UUIC) supported me throughout my time at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) by paying me during a 350 hour practicum I needed to graduate along with giving me a gas card to get to and from school. Paid internships are hard to find and this program helped ease the financial burden during my final semester at UCO. I am truly grateful.”

“The United Urban Indian Council helped me get into a CDL school to obtain my Class A CDL. Which enabled me to acquire better pay and has opened doors for better job opportunities. I am forever grateful for the help they gave me which will help me better my life. Everyone one at the United Urban Indian Council was very helpful and friendly. I am thankful for Elaine Oliver for helping me get to this point.”

“The United Indian Council helped me so much during my journey of chasing my dream of becoming a nurse. Without their assistance, I either would not have been able to complete my degree or I would have been in debt for many years after completing school.”

Madilyn Crouch

“The United Urban Indian Council contributed greatly to the completion of my bachelors degree. Being a first generation student, college was new and intimidating. I had a support system knowing there was always someone to reach out to and with their help, I was able to concentrate solely on school. I can’t thank them enough for the opportunities and support they have given me.”

The United Urban Indian Council has made it possible for me to graduate from Respiratory school as a first generation college student. I earned my GED at OIC and then I decided to pursue my education in the medical field.

Unsure of my calling, UUIC was there every step of the way guiding me and preparing me for my future. They truly helped make it possible this entire journey. UUIC helped me with any barriers that interfered with my education. From paid internships, books, tests, transportation assistance and much more. Words can’t express how much of a blessing it is to me and my kids. I will be glad to give back by helping the community.

“The UUIC has always been a helpful program for me. My first encounter with them was through the summer youth program where I got to job shadow nurses and pharmacy technicians. That summer I came to the realization that I wanted a career in pharmacy. They further helped and supported me through my journey of obtaining my associates degree. They provided many useful resources dedicated to Native Americans like myself. From job scouring, scholarships, and funds for schooling. I appreciate and thank all the staff at UUIC for all the support that helped me achieve the degree that will be used towards becoming a pharmacist.”
